This second Sunday of Advent, we’re reminded that going home is sometime scary. Which is why lighting the candle of “Peace” is very appropriate! Maybe home is truly unsafe. Maybe home is just unpleasant, or unhappy, or really hard. Maybe home is where we’re always being judged and are continually found lacking. For some people, this fear of home is a fear, not of their earthly home, but of their eternal home. No matter the fear, Jesus is walking with us, as we work out our salvation. And with this strength, with this hope and grace, we might have the means by which we can overcome the fear of going home.
