Sunday, June 29th: Jesus is the Greatest!: Our High Priest Who Meets our Needs Friends, we gather on Sunday to worship the God who has provided a perfect High Priest, Jesus Christ. The Old Testament priests served with limitations, offering sacrifices repeatedly. But Jesus, through his own blood, has secured our salvation once and for all. Because of Jesus, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that our sins are forgiven and that he intercedes for us eternally. Let us worship him with hearts full of gratitude and reverence. Let us open our hearts to receive the blessings of God’s grace, remembering that Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient for all who believe. Let us worship with awe and joy.

Sunday, August 25th: Feed on Jesus: The Bread of Life In John 6:56, Jesus says, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in them. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me lives because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. It isn’t like the bread your ancestors ate, and then they died. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” Jesus is using this metaphor to speak about spiritual nourishment, and that he is the only source of true joy, satisfaction, and hope in life. He is equating himself with bread, which means he is essential for life, and that the life he is referring to is eternal life.

What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? What changes are you making in us and among us? How are you recruiting us for the task of overcoming evil, ending oppression, bringing justice to an unjust world? We are people on a journey of transformation, and it isn’t always easy. Today, we acknowledge the hard work of becoming disciples and of setting aside the weight that clings so closely, of handing over the reins of our lives so that we can be led into wholeness. Jesus helps us to proclaim wholeness to the broken world around us.
