We’ve celebrated Peter’s call, and acceptance as a disciple. The topic for this week, Faltering, reminds us that the path of discipleship, and life itself, is one of ups and downs. And, sometimes, secretly, we might think there’s something wrong with us, if life and faith haven’t been easy. Understanding a little about faltering, about how to handle the bumps in life, is essential. Even the Apostle Peter, the one whose name was changed by Jesus from Simon to Peter, which means “rock,” the one on whom the Church would be built, struggled. Peter’s denial brings us comfort, knowing that we aren’t alone when we struggle, doubt, and fear. And through it all, Jesus still loves us, with his reckless love, and will not let us go!
